From New York to London to Paris and finally, Milan, designers are debuting their fall/winter 2015 collections. There is just so much to look forward to. With so many looks to drool over, it’s hard to pick the best collections so far..but we’ll try.
Dolce & Gabbana paid homage to mothers everywhere. The brightly hued, floral-filled collection saw Italian and French phrases of “I love you, Mamma” and “For the most beautiful in the world” written in glitter across stunning dresses. They may not have paid taxes but Dolce & Gabbana sure adore their mothers.
Balenciaga went texture overload with furs and wools in classic patterns. Long skirts and Hitchcock vibes made this collection a real stand out with fashion lovers and critics.
Here are some of our favourite looks from this past week:
With the close of London Fashion Week, which debuted the fresh collections from top designers, several trends emerged that will shape how you dress come spring 2015. There are overlapping trends from New York Fashion Week, that I’m sure will carry over to Milan and Paris. Here are the trends you need to know about.
Sport Chic – designers love to mix the seemingly opposite. For Spring 2015, they showcased sweat pants mixed with heels and sweatshirts with pencil skirts.
Shiny Sheen– whether it was a single skirt or an entire ensemble, London designers are loving metallics and anything with a shine.
Double-Duty Denim – denim scarves and denim jackets were spotted on many runways, giving your jeans a run for their money.
Ruffled Tiers – some collections had dresses with tiers, while others offered full-out ruffles. The feminine touch that has a hint of Spanish influence seems to be an major overall trend.
With the end of New York Fashion Week marks the beginning of the Euro fashion weeks. First up, London.
Only a few days in and we’re all getting a sense of what’s to come for Fall/Winter 2014…British style. So far, designers and houses showing in London are using bold prints and patterns, a great deal more than in New York. Black is still a huge colour, look to Tom Ford to see what I mean. However, patterned rusts and muted yellows were present at the stunning Burberry Prorsum show. The whole collection was executed so well. Other crowd pleasers included Canadian ex-pat Erdem and wild Peter Pilotto.
Which look is your favourite so far?
First it was New York Fashion Week, followed by London Fashion Week, then to Milan Fashion Week and currently Paris Fashion Week. While we’re still orienting ourselves with the fabulousness of fall, fashion’s A-list is finding out what designers have in store for spring 2014. Ahh, to be Anna Wintour!
From Gucci to Alexander Wang to Balenciaga, pastels and shiny fabrics are ruling the runways. Imagery and prints on fabric have also been seen on several catwalks, just check out looks from Prada and Dolce & Gabbana. Whatever your style, there’s something coming for everyone.
Some of our favourite looks from the international fashion weeks…so far:
By now you know that fashion moves as fast as lightning, so when one fashion week closes, another one opens. London Fashion Week presented some stellar Fall/Winter 2013 collections. Amongst floral prints and bursts of neon shades (similar to what we saw in New York), classic black and deep greys were major trend colours.
From Burberry Prorsum, we got another beautiful selection of classic trench coats with a twist. You can bet Kate Middleton will be sporting the house’s outerwear next Fall/Winter.
Our favourite Canadian ex-pat, Erdem used unique floral motifs with a neon edge.
These are just a few of our favourite looks from London Fashion Week. Stay tuned for more fashion news from upcoming fashion weeks including Milan and Paris. Can’t wait!
