As more and more designers showcase their spring 2014 collections, the easier it is for the fashion world to synthesize the coming trends. Based on what we’ve seen in New York, London, Milan and now Paris, ruffles, sheer fabrics and embroidery will be major players when the frost melts. Paris Fashion Week is still raging on but here are some of the cool things we’ve been treated to already.
At Saint Laurent – a hit of ’80s and lots of fabulous ruffles.
At Stella McCartney – an ultra-feminine, sheer ensembles with mixed fabrics.
At Giambattisa Valli – ethereal fabrics with subtle, yet effective embroidery.
At Givenchy – sophisticated jersey drapery in rusty colour.
But Rick Owens’ presentation was something special. Rather than using traditional models, Owens chose to use a fierce step team called Soul Steps. It was a phenomenal and really makes you re-evaluate what is considered beautiful. A picture just won’t do.
Here on the blog, I always offer advice on how to update, upscale and gussy up your wardrobe, but sometimes it’s nice to kick back and relax. We all need a break from over-thinking our looks and just enjoy being comfy yet, stylish.
Cozy boots, stretchy pants and comfortable footwear…now that’s the life. Remember in only a few short weeks Thanksgiving long weekend will be upon us and anything constricting will be out of the question.
This week The Peacock Parade has enough items to keep you on trend while being perfectly relaxed.
Soft colour, soft fabric and can be worn with jeans, a simple skirt or leggings.
These shoes offer the feel of a sneaker with the look of a dress shoe.
Let your accessories enjoy a sportier motif.

First it was New York Fashion Week, followed by London Fashion Week, then to Milan Fashion Week and currently Paris Fashion Week. While we’re still orienting ourselves with the fabulousness of fall, fashion’s A-list is finding out what designers have in store for spring 2014. Ahh, to be Anna Wintour!
From Gucci to Alexander Wang to Balenciaga, pastels and shiny fabrics are ruling the runways. Imagery and prints on fabric have also been seen on several catwalks, just check out looks from Prada and Dolce & Gabbana. Whatever your style, there’s something coming for everyone.
Some of our favourite looks from the international fashion weeks…so far:
Maybe it’s the chill in the air or that the days are getting noticeably shorter, but there’s no denying fall is here. On September 21, the season officially changes over to autumn and so should your wardrobe. If you find you’re having a hard time letting go of summer, take baby steps into fall. How? Don fall-appropriate accessories. Store your summery bangles and sandals and purchase of-the-moment items.
It’s time to make the fall-accessory switch and The Peacock Parade makes it a simple one.
Trade in those neon flip flops for a sophisticated flat in a fabulous animal print.
Store your turquoise jewellery and purchase items with darker tones and a trendy edge.
Tuck away your gauzy scarves and opt for heavier fabrics in on-trend colours.
Switch your heavily tinted sunnies for sleek, neutral sunglasses.
Don’t let your clothes be the only things to get the fall treatment – pick up an autumn-ready umbrella.
