Getting ready for the summer usually means getting that much needed pedi, bringing out your summer wardrobe that you’ve been dying to wear again and of course, adding a few new key pieces for the season. But to get that perfect summer glow, great skin is a must!
In preparation of The Peacock Parade‘s Father’s Day sale starting (tomorrow) Wednesday, May 29 at 11am, I wanted to highlight what’s going on in mens fashion for spring/summer 2013.
Most women, myself included, think men have it pretty easy – shirt, pants, done! – but for the past few years that just hasn’t been the case. Fashion houses like John Paul Gaultier and Alexander McQueen are always trying to break the mould. This mould-breaking usually includes men in dresses and clothes in stereotypically female shades. Now most men won’t go the dress/skirt route, but it does open their eyes to greater possibilities.
Playing around with colour (which I always endorse for women, as well) can make all the difference in a man’s wardrobe. So when you’re buying something special for your Dad, keep that in mind. He may not be the most stylish, but he’ll certainly love anything coming from you. A tie in a bright shade or with a cool pattern can enhance a simple man’s suit.
Whether your Dad is “high fashion” or “socks with sandals”, he’s awesome so get him something great to show how much you care. Check The Peacock Parade‘s Father’s Day sale for deals on all things Papa and get it delivered right on time.

It comes as no surprise that season after season, designers provide us with extensive print options. From argyle to plaid, there are always sartorialists willing to add extra punch to their collections. For spring/summer 2013 designers like Proenza Schouler, Anna Sui and Balenciaga opted to go a step further and mix prints within one outfit.
Floral with plaid, gingham with graphic and so on. To pull off this look, trial and error is your best bet. Sometimes I’m shocked that some pieces that really have no business going together, seem to fuse so nicely.
One tip is to pair colours – mixed shades of a single colour tend to work together. Another tip is to mix patterns with complementary colours. If one piece is predominantly purple while the other is predominantly yellow, it may look fabulous together because, for the most part, purple and yellow match.
Once again, it’s all about trial and error if you decide to mix patterns. Have fun with your clothes and use the runways shots in this post as inspiration!
