Believe it or not, winter is almost over. We can now fully focus our efforts on dressing for the upcoming spring. (Pssst! Visit the blog regularly for our spring trend watch). Out with opaque tights and down-filled coats and in with short sleeves and bare legs. In an effort to get the ball rolling, The Peacock Parade has perfect items to gear up for spring and that pesky transitional period.
Spring essentials include length appropriate shirts in a vibrant shade, edgy sunnies and a neutral tank for layering.
Looking for a something extra for your spring wardrobe? How about a sassy dress that can move from day to night in a flash or a chic bag that goes with everything?
We won’t waste our time sitting around and discussing whether or not Seth Macfarlane made a good Oscar host. We also won’t mention that there was an abundance of beards in the Oscar audience. No, no, here at The Peacock Parade, all we want to discuss is who wore what. Even if you only watched the red carpet arrivals (the best part), you really saw all you needed to see.
I’m sure you all have your favourites from last night so here are some of our picks. Let us know if you agree and who your best-dressed celeb was.
Jessica Chastain wore a stunning Armani Prive gown with a scarlet red lip to complement her red locks. She invoked old Hollywood glamour.
Kerry Washington wore an unconventional Miu Miu dress that fit her like a glove. We applaud her for taking a risk and avoiding the mermaid look.
Jennifer Lawrence was on many best-dressed lists. Her Dior Haute Couture was fabulous, although it would have been even better in non-bridal white.
Charlize Theron is breathtaking even in a pair of sweats but her Dior Haute Couture peplum gown was so chic.
Naomi Watts was perfect (blogger favourite!!) The futuristic Armani Prive took a huge risk and it paid off. Despite be adorned in sparkles, this gown managed to offer the right amount of glitz without being too much.
George Clooney’s date, Stacy Keibler showed off her awesome body in this body-conscious beaded frock by Naheem Khan.

It’s almost Oscar night and it has everyone thinking about all things glam. Hollywood starlets will walk the red carpet on Sunday, covered in jewels and designer gowns, while we keep sighing with envy. Even though most of us will probably never accept an award on Oscar night, it doesn’t mean that we can’t feel glamorous now and again. Host an Oscar night party and dress up, practice your acceptance speech and pretend you’ve just arrived with George Clooney.
It’s imperative that you have a number of fancy items in your wardrobe in case you are asked to attend a chic soiree, maybe with George! Check out some of my picks for must-haves from this week’s sales on The Peacock Parade. Among my favourites are dresses from Canadian designer Narces. When it looks this good AND it’s Canadian, we want to jump for joy!
By now you know that fashion moves as fast as lightning, so when one fashion week closes, another one opens. London Fashion Week presented some stellar Fall/Winter 2013 collections. Amongst floral prints and bursts of neon shades (similar to what we saw in New York), classic black and deep greys were major trend colours.
From Burberry Prorsum, we got another beautiful selection of classic trench coats with a twist. You can bet Kate Middleton will be sporting the house’s outerwear next Fall/Winter.
Our favourite Canadian ex-pat, Erdem used unique floral motifs with a neon edge.
These are just a few of our favourite looks from London Fashion Week. Stay tuned for more fashion news from upcoming fashion weeks including Milan and Paris. Can’t wait!
