In addition to wearing Canadian made items this Canada Day, the more patriotic among us might like to go all out and wear red and white this weekend. And who can blame them? Red and white are Canada’s national colours and fresh, vibrant summer colours.
After all, fusing fashion and patriotism has long been a cool way to show a person’s solidarity. Remember Ginger Spice’s Union Jack dress or Lady Gaga and Beyonce’s American flag outfits in Telephone? I rest my case.
With only a few days left before Canada Day, it’s time to start thinking about how to celebrate. Whether you’re going to the cottage or having a Molson in your backyard, the weekend is all about being Canadian. We live in an amazing country and there’s no better way to show off our patriotism than donning our favourite Canadian threads.
Canada is home to many incredible fashion designers like Arthur Mendonca, David Dixon, Wesley Badanjak, Kim Newport-Mimran and so many others. So this weekend top your look with a Smythe jacket, Biko necklace or Carla Wax bracelet. Keep checking The Peacock Parade for more opportunities to buy Canadian fashion and support this country’s blooming industry.

Jimmy Choo and contemporary artist, Rob Pruitt have finally been revealed some images from their highly anticipated collaboration. The collection includes shoes and handbags – a perfect pairing! They’ve taken signature Jimmy Choo styles and recrafted them using Pruitt’s panda motif.
With the use of expert colour combinations and a mix of animal print with lace, these shoes are anything but typical. This is giving the Jimmy Choo customer a chance to really have fun with shoes and add a great pop art element. Pruitt’s items will be part of the Jimmy Choo 2013 cruise collection.
This marks the first major project by Sandra Choi and Simon Holloway who took the helm of Jimmy Choo when original founder, Tamara Mellon and CEO Joshua Schulman left last year.
